Why We Exist

Too many reviews today are based on a few magazines fired at the range or are driven by sponsorships that prioritize promotion over honest feedback.

At the same time, many channels focus almost exclusively on products that are financially out of reach for the average enthusiast.

We believe there's another way.

Our mission is simple:

Help shooters spend their money wisely.

Sometimes that means recommending an affordable product that performs far above its price point.

Sometimes it means telling you that spending more is actually worth it.

Either way, our goal is the same—to help you make informed decisions before you open your wallet.

If we can help someone avoid wasting money on a disappointing purchase or introduce them to a product that genuinely exceeds expectations, we've accomplished exactly what we set out to do.

Our Review Philosophy

We believe long-term testing tells the story that first impressions simply can't.

While we occasionally publish first impressions on proven products from manufacturers with well-established reputations, those videos aren't the foundation of what we do.

The heart of Double Charlie is long-term testing.

We want to know how products perform after repeated range sessions, changing weather conditions, thousands of rounds, and real-world use—not just how they feel on day one.

We're fortunate to call New Hampshire home.

It gives us the opportunity to test products in a wide variety of real-world conditions throughout the year.

From dense forests and changing elevations to open ranges and dramatic seasonal weather shifts, our gear sees far more than a perfectly controlled square range.

Every opportunity to get outside is another opportunity to learn how a product performs when conditions aren't ideal.

If we're already heading to the range, we're bringing the cameras with us.

The Double Charlie Score

Every product receives a Double Charlie Score only after completing our long-term testing process.

Our scoring system isn't designed to crown winners.

It's designed to give shooters an honest assessment of where a product excels, where it falls short, and whether it's worth your hard-earned money.

A high score has to be earned.

Our Promise

Every product offered through the Double Charlie Store has earned a minimum Double Charlie Score of 7.0/10 through real-world testing.

If it doesn't meet our standards...

It doesn't make our store.

We're not interested in filling a catalog with products simply because they're available.

We'd rather recommend fewer products that we genuinely believe in than hundreds we wouldn't trust ourselves.

More Than Reviews

Double Charlie is more than a website.

We're building a community centered around honest testing, education, giveaways, and helping shooters get more out of their hard-earned money.

Our giveaways are one way we give back to the community that's supported us from the beginning. We know quality gear isn't always affordable, and if we can put great equipment into someone's hands while introducing them to companies building products we believe in, that's a win for everyone involved.
